On Sunday we decided to drive west of Boise towards Steve's coworkers house. He has been telling us about all the hops fields in his area and warned us they were going to be picking them soon. We also headed on over to Oregon (less than 30 miles away) where we watched a farmer picking onions. We also finally confirmed what a potato field looks like. (Yup we had to drive to Oregon to find potatoes. Of course now we know what they look like we should be able to spot them easier.) Posted by Picasa

Onions. They stop irrigating them now so they will dry down and toughen their skins. Posted by Picasa

An irrigation ditch. The water is low because they are not irrigation this field Posted by Picasa

Onions waiting for harvest. At this point they have been pulled out of the ground and the next machine picks them up, removes the stalks and drops them into a truck Posted by Picasa

Onion havesting. The farmer said they were not a mild onion. He gave us a couple but we haven't used them yet Posted by Picasa
